Sometimes your own hormones play havoc with your body

Meet Estrogen. Excess estrogen can make you depressed and chunky.

But that’s not always the case. In balance estrogen makes you happy & healthy. When it gets unbalanced things go crazy

At puberty estrogen increases the feel good chemicals of oxytocin-which makes you feel love & affiliation & dopamine which makes you feel pleasure & satisfaction

#Estrogen is nature’s Prozac

And of course its responsible for giving women hips & breasts

Now estrogen needs to be balanced by the hormone progesterone. Estrogen is lose & flirty & sensitive. Progesterone keeps it in check & plays a supportive role

These hormones are yin & yang

Estrogen causes you to retain salt & water-progesterone is a diuretic

When these guys are in sync your bones are strong, your skin is hydrated & smooth

AND………..YOUR #METABOLISM IS FORGIVING

They go out of balance and BOOM your body is not happy

So, what happens if they are out of balance?

You might be irritable, moody, or even worse end up with full fledged depression or anxiety

You may have more headaches, ruddy skin, water retention,

Or lack of sleep & a foggy brain

And then sometimes these become huge mood swings, fatigue, insomnia, memory loss, bloating, depression, weight gain or difficulty losing weight………….and more

So where can this come from

Fat cells make estrogen too. More fat cells means more estrogen

And bad toxins are stored in fat cells. Estrogen does not like bad toxins (think plastics & chemicals in your body wash)

More than 50% of women over 35 have high estrogen (vs progesterone)

This is a new & started this century

Researchers think this is because we are more exposed to artificial estrogens & have increased stress

The good news is that there are many ways to get your hormones back into check like

-Lowering #cortisol levels (the stress hormones)

-Drinking less alcohol

-Using personal care products with fewer bad chemicals & toxins

-Lowering environmental exposure to toxins (like a new carpet for example)

-Improving your diet

-Taking natural supplements
